growing up i remember watching Rocky coz my dad was a 'SLY' fan. i mean who dint like ...sorry love Sly. he was hot (still is) with the tight jeans and dark shades chewing on a toothpick, then the lopsided grin and the slow deep drawl, he was the definition of eye candy! so today in those lazy spurts of not really working, i set 'Rocky Balboa' on M net 2 and gashed with the memories of the most brilliant memorable rocky fight ever, the one in rocky 5 with Drago. i could remember how we sat on the edge of our seats every time we watched that last part, not once or twice, a million times over and seeing him again back in Philly in the old blue shirt and jacket, old neighborhood, only chunkier and older and with lots of demons to make up for, it feels like home. like i actually traversed time with him and 'here we are , all grown and old with memories and regrets and a last shot at redemption' that was Rocky Balboa. everything felt as familiar till his final wave at his deceased wife's grave...time to finally say good bye to old memories and i guess old audiences cum acquaintances....
well at least i retrieved the speech he gave his son, and you can tell that age and the fights he had had only built a resilience, i am sure he not only passes out to his son but to his audience. well
(sigh) we had some fun, eh? the fights and rooting for him through it all
"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done. Now, if you know what you're worth, then go out and get what you're worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hit, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you are because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain't you. You're better than that! I'm always gonna love you no matter what. No matter what happens. You're my son, you're my blood. You're the best thing in my life. But until you start believing in yourself, you ain't gonna have a life."

IT IS an amazing movie.
i also love the fact that Rocky lost.
it was very realistic unlike many movies.
Speaking of fathers and old movies who remembers planet of the apes, It'a mad mad world, Grease, E.T., Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and of course the unforgettable starwars
planet of the apes was downright wierd!not my genre..k lucy, ima look for that movie...was always under the impression that SLY had passed his 'sale-by' date
Rocky balboa.....with this post.. i should watch this movie.
Good father-to-son speech
cheers
